Who is Claude Monet and where was he born? Claude Monet was the founder of French impressionist painting. He was born born as Oscar Claude Monet on November 14, 1840- December 5, 1926. During the time that Claude was alive he created amazing portraits. My favorite portrait of his is Rue Montorgueil, 1878, Musée d'Orsay, Paris. I like this portrait the most because it's tells me three things just by looking at it. It tells me that this picture is social, political, and religious.
To begin with, I think that Claude Monet's portrait Rue Montorgueil is political, social, and religious. This portrait is political because, it shows how there are flags hanging everywhere including out side of peoples windows. They are probably hanging outside of the window because they may be at war with someone else and they could be trying to get a point across by saying we're not going anywhere so we will fight. I chose this portrait because I felt that it stood out to me from Monet's other portraits. This portrait has eye popping color to me and I knew that it would be great talking about one of Monet's pictures.
